Leicester General Hospital's maternity unit idelivers over 4000 babies per year.
The hospital has Antenatal Clinics where women with more complicated pregnancies are seen by Obstetricians and midwives. There is also a Maternity scanning and Fetal Medicine service and a Maternity Assessment Centre where women with urgent problems can be assessed.
The unit offers a wide range of pain relief methods for use during labour, including the use of mobile epidural, water, gas and air, epidurals, intramuscular opiate injection and TENS machines.
Low risk women booked at the unit can choose to birth in the Midwife led Birth Centre or have a water birth, in one of our birthing pools.
